300910 Thursday
Today was a preparation day for the outfield tomorrow, spanning 3 days. In the morning we had a tour around our camp. Our camp was mostly made up of tents that can accomodate up to 16 men. They were supported by metal poles and canvas. Strong wind can actually displace the poles, like this afternoon!
The highlight of our tour was of course the welfare section. There was a canteen stall in a metal shipment container, pretty much like a caravan-shop. F&B were expensive and a beer cost exactly the same as a bottle of water! (FYI beer is said to be even cheaper than water before the gahment imposed a tax on it) It even has a 40plus inch flat screen plasma tv for us!
Another section were 2 containers with telephone and computers! It was such a luxury to have it here and keeps us closer to our loved ones, especially my girl =) A A$10 phone card gives u about 39 minutes of talktime, which i think is quite okay. Buy from singapore if u wanna save a couple bucks. Called my mum wishing her a happy birthday. Reminds me of my days in BMT calling back home with the awww feeling. Called my girl in the evening and listen to her laughters. It made my day =)
The open sheltered bathing area consist of multi-coloured water bags over a pulley system. It actually looks like a piece of modern art! We had to fill buckets of water to fill it and switch on the tap allowing water to flow down. Never seen anywhere else!
